This statement is designed to give a description of the access to the various areas inside and outside of The St. Leonards that are used by our Guests.

The property was built as a private house in 1870 and converted to a Guest House in 1930s. The accommodation is set over three floors, the Entrance Lobby / Dry Lounge, the Dining Room and Lounge Bar are on the Ground Floor, Guest Rooms 1, 2 and 3 are on the First Floor and Guest Rooms 4, 5, 6, and 7 are on the second floor. There are 2 flights of 7 steps with intermediate landings between each floor. There are no Guest Rooms on the Ground Floor.

Pre-Arrival

The main Train Station which connects to the Wightlink Passenger Ferry Terminal, Ryde, is 5 minutes away by car or 10 to 15 minutes by foot. There are a number of local Taxi Companies that serve the Station and other areas.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

A car park for 6/7 cars is available at the front of the building. The surface is block paved and slopes up to the front entrance. The area is illuminated by adjacent street lighting and outside lighting attached to the building.

Main Entrance and Reception

The front porch entrance is accessed by two steps of 20cm. high leading up to the front door. Wheelchair access is not possible due to the steps and the narrow door width. We are able to assist Guests with their luggage if required. The front door is always locked; access is gained using a key attached to the Room Key fob. There is a bell press on the door frame. The entrance leads to the Entrance Lobby / Dry Lounge. The flooring is deep pile carpet. Seating is provided in the Entrance Lobby / Dry Lounge.

Public Areas – Internal

Our Dining Room, Dry Lounge and Lounge Bar are on the Ground Floor. The flooring is deep pile carpet throughout. There is no public WC available.

Dining Room

Breakfast is served in our Dining Room on the ground floor. The entry is level and the door width is 75cm.  Seating can be arranged to suit requirements. A child’s high chair or seat boosters are available if required. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and all other diets can be catered for.

Guest Rooms

All of the Guest Rooms are En-Suite. There is central heating throughout the house.  The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators.  The beds are made with all-season duvets and the thickness is adjusted to suit the time of year. Each room has storage space which usually consists of a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet.

First Floor

Guest Room no.1 is a family room with 1 double bed and bunk beds. The shower room contains a wash-basin, toilet and shower cubicle. The step into the shower is 20cm. There are two wicker chairs and one low, upholstered chair in the room. This room has a balcony which is accessible through double, outward opening doors. Seating is available outside.

Guest Room no.2 is a double or twin room. The shower room contains a wash-basin, toilet and shower cubicle. The step into the shower is 16cm. There are two low, upholstered chairs in the room.

Guest Room no.3 is a double room.  The shower room contains a wash-basin, toilet and shower cubicle. The step into the shower is 18cm. There are two wicker chairs and a small wicker table in the room.

Second Floor

Guest Room no. 4 is a family room with 1 double bed and bunk beds. It has a private bathroom. The height of the bath side is 55cm. There are two wicker chairs and a low upholstered chair in the room.

Guest Room no. 5 is a double room. The shower room contains a wash-basin, toilet and shower cubicle. The step into the shower is 18cm. There are two low, upholstered chairs and a small wicker table in the room

Guest Room no.6 is a single room. The shower room contains a wash-basin, toilet and shower cubicle. The step into the shower is 20cm. There is one, low, upholstered chairs in the room.

Guest bedroom no.7 is a double or twin room. The shower room contains a wash-basin, toilet and shower cubicle. The step into the shower is 18cm.  There are two wicker chairs in the room.

Grounds and Gardens 

The Front garden is accessed through double doors in the Lounge Bar. There is a covered, paved seating area available to our guests.
